About Our School
The Holy Family CyberHigh environment allows for students to better focus on their academics, due to the positive environment created by our teachers and the other students at our school as one large supporting community. Secondly, many negative influences commonly found in physical schools, such as peer pressures (smoking, drugs, vandalism, etc...) as well as bullying, are minimized. We have staff supervised "Lounges" for our Junior and Senior high students where they are able meet other students and chat about sports, jokes, music, and anything else on their mind. This is truly a great opportunity for our students to get to know one another and develop the sense of community that Holy Family CyberHigh is all about.
Another unique Holy Family CyberHigh advantage is that our students can work from the safety of their own home environment. This unique aspect - working from home - can save your family countless hours of transit to and from school, by family vehicle or by bus. This becomes a safety benefit especially in winter, when our roads become dangerous and snow covered! At the same time, students of our school enjoy the flexibility of learning while traveling, or while simply being outside Alberta visiting family or friends. As long as there is an internet connection, our students can log in and attend school, regardless of where they are in the world.
The development of positive relationships within our Holy Family CyberHigh online community is also another great strength of our school. We enable students from all across the province to connect with each other in a safe, supervised environment, thus helping them enjoy their school experience with and expanded circle of friends. Many friends from our school have maintained their contact with each other (and our school), as this is such a unique environment in which to get to know each other.
Possibly the most important thing that sets us apart from other schools is our low student-to-teacher ratio. We are not a group of teachers servicing thousands of students, but rather a smaller community which allows us to get to know our students in a more personal way. The benefit of this, of course, is that we can tailor our personal help directly to them - a feature which larger schools often cannot even offer.
Student Activity Days!
This Year (2011-2012):
Students and staff of CyberHigh gathered at different times throughout the year, to participate in activities together. In December and April, two trips were planned to the Citadel Theater, in Edmonton. A group of students, parents and staff attended a production of "A Christmas Carol" and a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Citadel Theater. Prior to that, in October we held a pizza and bowling night.
In June we are planning Student Activity Events to coincide with the CyberHigh Celebration of Learning.
At the beginning of last year, Students and staff of Holy Family CyberHigh attended Camp YoWoChAs (YWCA), for a three day camping trip. The camp is a great community building event, where students can partake in numerous group activities -- to get to know themselves and other students in a safe and fun atmosphere. Campfires, archery, climbing walls, skit night, untangling the ‘human’ knot, canoeing, and many other activities were part of the three-day retreat.

Students gathered in November for pizza, pop and some awesome games of dodgeball to help ward off the winter chill. Although the weather was very chilly outside, the smiles inside were warm. Everyone was a winner in the dodgeball games, and the energy that was worked up during the evening kept the cold at bay when the event came to an end and families braved their way outdoors again.
